Don't Throw Away Your Leftovers! 7 Creative Ways to Use Your Sludge

Don't throw away your leftovers after infusing in the Magical Butter Machine!

Did you know? The leftover herb from butter or oil infusions contain plenty of herbal-goodness, which our Magical Butter Users United Facebook Community lovingly refers to as sludge.

Secrets of the Sludge

We asked our MBUU Community for their sludge secrets to see how they use the leftover plant matter after straining Magical infusions made in the MagicalButter Machine MB2e.

BANANA BREAD

“I strain but don’t squeeze, then use the sludge in place of the fat in banana bread and add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon to the batter and chopped nuts. You won’t get a taste or texture different from regular banana bread.”

- David G.

BLUEBERRY MUFFINS

“Last night I strained my sludge and mixed it in a pack of blueberry muffins mix - don’t ever throw your sludge away it mixes well in batters and it's still powerful! I did a taste test before bed and slept 8 1/2 hours straight. Woke up still high!”

- Charles L.

CUPPA MORNING JOE

“I mix my sludge into coffee grinds and prepare my morning brew with it.”

- Neal E.

SUPER SMOOTHIES

“We made use of the last batch of sludge by throwing some of it into the blender and combining it with yogurt strawberries apple kale spinach and bananas!!”

- JL R.

TACO TUESDAY

“I finally saved my sludge from when I made butter. I added some to my taco meat. This was a really good idea, thanks group!”

- Sanj C.

CREAMY TOPICALS

“For massage oil, I take the sludge and add ground rose hips and whatever topical oil I prefer that month (this could be apricot, almond, avocado or jojoba.) If I am making a body butter I add Shea butter to the machine, then strain it all and add arnica oil and essential oils (I love frankincense!) If it's a body butter I also cool in the fridge and then whip it up like a cake batter.”

- Amanda G.

SPICY DRY RUB

“My husband dried out the sludge from an ounce of bud in coconut oil as best we could. He then added red chili flakes, garlic powder, brown sugar, salt & pepper and encrusted a 1.5 lb pork loin with about 1/4 inch thick of the rub. Wrapped in Saran Wrap overnight and then today put onto a pan with potatoes, onion & evoo. Cooked at 325 for 45 mins. So juicy and flavorful!”

- Angela W.
